VIG - Vacuum Insulating Glass
Vacuum Insulating Glass (VIG) is the highest performing glazing choice available today. Standard double pane IG is R-3 to R-4 center of glass. VIG is from R-10 to R-14, or up to 5X better. It utilizes an evacuated cavity between two layers of glass to significantly reduce heat transfer and improve building energy efficiency. The edge seal creates a non-porous barrier locking out air to reduce heat transfer through conduction, convection and radiation - common in standard IG. Thus, resulting in improved thermal insulation and lower energy costs.
